About The Recipe
This recipe is an easy dinner that also tastes delicious as leftovers. It’s an ideal recipe to make on a busy weeknight or to meal prep for your week.
The best part of this recipe is the sauce, which has the perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and a little peanut butter.
Sesame Noodles Ingredients:
- 10 ounces udon noodles (or spaghetti noodles)
- 3 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari sauce)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic
- ½ teaspoon sriracha
Popular Substitutions & Additions:
- Noodles: popular alternatives for udon noodles in this recipe are spaghetti or soba noodles. You could also use any medium-sized flat noodle (like linguine)
- To make this recipe gluten-free: use a gluten-free noodle option and swap the soy sauce for tamari sauce or coconut aminos.
- Sriracha: if you’d like to avoid spice, leave out the sriracha. And if you’d like to add more, double the amount you use.
How to Make Sesame Noodles
The full recipe is at the bottom of this page, but here’s a quick overview + some tips:
Step 1:
In a small bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the sauce: sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, peanut butter, ginger, garlic, sriracha. Whisk until well-combined and the peanut butter is completely dissolved.
Step 2:
In a large pot, cook the noodles according to package instructions.
TIP: be sure to double check the amount of noodles in your package before cooking them. This recipe needs 10 ounces of noodles, but the amount in your package may vary.
Step 3:
Drain the noodles, add them to a large bowl and pour the sauce over the hot noodles. Use tongs (or hold two forks) to mix the noodles with the sauce.
TIP: tongs work best for mixing the sauce and noodles to prevent clumping. You can also use two forks or spoons as makeshift tongs to mix them.
Step 4:
Optionally, serve topped with roasted peanuts, chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
How long are sesame noodles good for?
Store your noodles in the fridge in an airtight container and they should stay good for 3 – 4 days. They can be enjoyed as leftovers hot or cold (some people actually prefer cold sesame noodles).
